The Movie “Father Stu,” is based on the true story of a boxer-turned-Catholic priest Father Stuart Long. Stuart was born in 1963 and died in 2014 from Inclusion Body Myositis (IBM) disease.

The movie “Father Stu,” tells the story of a guy, Stuart Long (Acted by Mark Wahlberg) who finds his calling as a Catholic priest when trying to woo a beautiful lady, Carmen (Acted by Tereza Ruiz)

Stuart was a one-time boxer but had to quit his boxing career after he was diagnosed with Inclusion Body Myositis (IBM), a muscle disorder. This hurt his knee so badly. He moved to Los Angeles to start a new life. 

Stuart tried to join Hollywood to be famous, he tried all sorts of jobs. In one of his jobs as a supermarket clerk, a catholic devout, and a Sunday school teacher, Carmen (Acted by Tereza Ruiz) entered the supermarket, and Stuart instantly fell in love with her. 

He kept on pursuing Carmen. To convince Carmen to date him, he started going to her church. He found himself becoming a catholic devout. 

Stuart and Carmen started an affair, and she found herself breaking the rules of staying away from s-x until after marriage. However, Stuart took his faith to another level when he decided to become a Priest.

Would Carmen be happy about his decision to end their relationship and become a priest after he made her believe he was going to marry her? Would Stuart’s Parents, Bill and Kathleen Long (Acted by Mel Gibson and Jacki Weaver respectively) be happy about his decision?
