Dignity is a song by Beninese singer and songwriter, Angelique Kidjo. It is the second song from her album titled “Mother Nature.” This song features Nigerian singer and songwriter, Yemi Alade.

The song “Dignity,” honors the peaceful protesters that were killed by members of the Nigeran Army on Tuesday, 20th of October, 2020 after the army opened fire on them during the End Sars peaceful protest.

What is the song Dignity by Angelique Kidjo ft Yemi Alade all about?

In the song “Dignity by Angelique Kidjo ft Yemi, the artists sing about oneness and love. They also sing about the need for people to value other people’s lives, treat them well and respect them, rather than trample on their rights sake of the powerful position they occupy.

Moving on, the artists also condemned the killing of people standing up for their rights, like in the case of the #End sars protest at Lekki Toll Gate, Nigeria where the Nigerian army opened fire on peaceful protesters and killed many.

According to the artists, if people are constantly killed for standing up for their rights; then automatically, there can’y be leaders of tomorrow, because they are already killing them.

A glimpse of hope in humanity

We’ll get down on a brand new day
