Music Review: Are You There by Rema

“Are You There,” is a song by Nigerian singer and songwriter, Rema. Rema is currently signed to Mavin Records owned by Don Jazzy.

What is the song Are You There by Rema all about?

Rema in the song “Are You There,” sings about different things. 

In the song, he sang about his personality. Also, he expressed his irritation with some national issues as well as the attitudes of some people.

I don’t really know why Rema titled the song “Are You There?”

Are you there as in like are you among the people he sang about in the song or what? Or, are you among those that are angry and frustrated like him?

Moving on, in the song “Are You There,” Rema pours out his anger and frustration on some issues in the country as well as some individual attitudes of the citizens.

Some issues Rema pointed out are looting, unconcerned government, entitlement mentality, negative mindset, greed, and judgmental character. According to him, he has made his feelings known countless times about what is happening but no one seems to notice him. This frustration according to him is evident in his tone when he sings.

Speaking about his personality, Rema says he is one person that associates more with women which is evident. He likes to be intoxicated with good music, women, alcohol, and perhaps s-x. He just likes to have fun. He sings about the effect of liquor on men and women. He also sings about making good music that puts people in the dance mood. Lastly, on his personality, he sings about his boldness to confront situations regardless of how challenging they may look.

In the latter part of the song, Rema tries to cheer people up. He says regardless of all that is happening, people should ease their minds and carry on living the way they want because life goes on.
