Music Review: “Peace,” by Mohbad

“Peace,” is a song by Nigerian singer and songwriter, Ilerioluwa aka Mohbad. The song premiered in September.

Mohbad is currently signed to “Marlians Record Label,” a record label owned by Naira Marley.

At some point, Mohbad was trying to sound like Nigerian singer and songwriter, Asake. The song also lacks clarity.

What is the song “Peace,” by Mohbad all about?

It is not clear why Mohbad titled the song “Peace,” as the lyrics are confusing.

In the song”Peace,” Mohbad sings about the tough time he had. According to him, his resilience, turning deaf ear to negative words, patience, and determination not to give up were the things that kept him going, and gave him peace of mind.

He also sings about his musical skills which he says are unbeatable.

What do you all think?

Refrain

Wetin be this one like this (What’s is this?)

Been through many things

Many many gists

Though I still find my peace

Imole (Brightness.)

Oh I, I dey do like say me I no dey see (I act like I can’t see)

Do like say I no dey hear (Act like I don’t hear.)

Which kind person be this? (What kind of a person is this?)

Oh I, wetin be this one like this? (What is this?)

Been through many things

La ti aiye Genesis (Since the days of Genesis (Beginning))

I will be dealing with frenemies

 Survivor, survivor

Mi o ni gba, mi o ni gba (I won’t accept.)

Money chaser, faster than a bullet

 Flying like a rocket

 Badman wey never rest

King of South and the West

 Faster than a car

Won fe ba mi sa (They want to race with me.)

 Faster than a Benz oh

 ———————–

 Bad vibes on the ground

 Ooh ooh ooh ooh

Give me my sound, I am so vibical, olorun

Aiye lo okada won de tun ni car (The world uses motorcycles and cars.)

Dem wan tear your knicker (They want to tear your knicker.)

Dem wan to turn your teacher (They want to become your teacher.)

Before you hamma oh my n#gga, oh my n#gga(Before you become successful my n#gga)

You go dey when I no get ginger? (Would you be there if I don’t have the ginger.)

Oh my n#gga, oh my n#gga

Shey you go dey when I no get raba? (Would you be there when I don’t have money?)

Cause my mama, cause my mama been praying for me (Cause, my mum has been praying for me.)

Say make I jere (That I should reap/be successful.)

Oh my babe, oh my babe

Shey you go dey before my surulere? (Would you be there before my patience becomes profitable?)
