If you are a fan of Yoruba movies like me, then, you already know that some Yoruba actors hardly play any other role other than herbalist.

You call such actors- type-cast-actor. They usually play only one role.

The reason they are given this role is not only because they can chant incantations, but because, they play the role so fantastically.

The actors that are type-cast as an herbalist in Yoruba movies are usually of the male gender, I hardly see Yoruba actresses challenge themself with this role. These actors that play harbalist are:

Fatai Adekunle Adetayo: Fatai aka Odua 1 Lalude is the owner of Lalude Film Production. He is a producer and director, and a Brand Ambassador. He has been in the industry for over three decades.

Fatai doesn’t act in other roles other than an herbalist role, and he is always an evil herbalist. You can’t go to his shrine, and change your mind about doing evil. Lalude will force you to do that evil, and threaten death your way.

Adewale Alebiosu: Adewale aka Alebiosu is also a scriptwriter and a movie producer. He has been in the industry for over a decade.

In his early days in the movie industry, he picked up other roles other than that of an herbalist. He plays an evil herbalist but usually tells his clients the repercussions of what they are about to do. He also mocks the clients after the evil backfires on them.

Rasaq Olayiwola Olasunkanmi: Rasaq aka Ojopagogo is also a producer and director. He has his movie channel. He has been in the industry for over two decades.

Ojopagogo playing herbalist in movies is not as bad as Lalude or Abijawara. This is because there is still a chance to repent after hearing what may befall you peradventure you opt to do evil. He will tell you the repercussions of what you want to do, giving you a chance to flee evil.

Ganiu Nofiu: Ganiu aka Alapinni Ohsa is also a scriptwriter and film director. He has been in the industry for over two decades. Just like Ojopagogo, he will tell you the repercussions of what you want to do, giving you a chance to flee evil.

Peter Fatomilola: Peter has been in the industry for over three decades. You can’t see him play an evil herbalist like Lalude, Abijawara, and co. He is more like an Ifa priest, who is always seeking a solution to a problem caused by the evil ones. He may also try to appease just for peace-sake. He is also a writer, filmmaker, and director.

Tajudeen Oyewole: Tajudeen aka Abijawara bi ekun is aso director, and a scriptwriter. He has been in the industry for over three decades. Honestly, Abija seems like the real definition of an evil herbalist in appearance and character. His ways are always so wicked. He is the real definition of a type-cast actor who acts in no other role other than an herbalist. He is always evil, and just like Lalude doesn’t give clients a chance to repent, the same applies to him. Once you enter his shrine, there is no turning back. You must do the evil you planned on doing; no going back.

Taofeeq Adewale: Taofeek aka Digboluja is also a scriptwriter and producer. He has been in the industry for over a decade. He is always very vicious as well and plays the role of an herbalist oftentimes.

Olasukanmi Akanni: Akanni aka Olohuniyo1 is also a producer, an MC, and the CEO of Salty Voice Entertainer (SVE). I have never seen him act in any other role other than an herbalist. He also acts as an evil herbalist most of the time. He has been in the industry for over a decade.

Idowu Adenekan: Idowu aka Oluwo has been in the industry for over a decade. He is an in-between herbalist. That is, he is not always extremely terrible like that, and he can be terrible too. His mission is to help you out of your predicament even if it means hurting another person. So, call it “Robbing Peter to pay Paul.”

Chief Ojo Arowosafe: Chief Ojo aka Fadeyi Oloro has been in the industry for over three decades just like Lalude and Abija. Honestly, in the late ’90s, when you hear the name “Fadeyi Oloro,” you would be scared that evil is coming your way. Fadeyi is always so vicious too. He is an evil herbalist, always happy to do evil.

Fasasi Olabankewin: Fasasi aka Dagunro is late. He died on Thursday, June 13, 2019. He played mostly an evil herbalist in his movies. He was in the industry for over two decades. Jamiu and Kazeem Olabankewin are the only kids of Fasasi in the movie industry at the moment.

Ibrahim Chatta: Ibrahim is a popular figure. He is an exceptional actor. He is not a type-cast actor. His multi-talent sees him interpreting different roles like lover boy, father, herbalist, elder, robber exceptionally. There is no role Ibrahim can’t play. He is not limited in dexterity. I need to find a way to interview him. He has been in the industry for over a decade.

Yinka Quadri: Yinka is also not a type-cast actor. He plays other roles other than an herbalist and fantastically interprets his roles. He has been in the industry for over two decades. He is also a producer and director.

There is this other actor that I don’t know his name, but he is type-cast as an herbalist. Don’t blame me though for not knowing his name, most of these Yoruba movies have a poor way of identifying casts. Oftentimes I try to check his name under casts, but I don’t see it. Here is his picture (view in the slide), kindly find me a name for him, he is a fantastic actor and plays mostly herbalist.

Other herbalists, I don’t know their names are in the images below-

So, away from that, did we miss out on anyone on the list? Feel free to make use of the comment box, thanks.
