The movie tells the story about two closest friends, Felicie (Acted by Elle Fanning) and Victor (Dane Dehann) that grew up in an orphanage.
Though in the orphanage, they both dreamed of being someone big and famous. Felicie (Acted by Elle Fanning) wanted to be a ballerina while Victor (Acted by Dane Dehann) wanted to be an inventor. To actualize their dreams, both plan to escape the orphanage.
Felicie and Dane finally escape the orphanage to Paris and separate for a while. Victor joins an engineering company while Felicie is accommodated by a cleaner, Odette (Acted by Carly Rae Jepson) who rescues her from a guard (Acted by Jamie Watson) that wanted to punish her for breaking one of the rules of the Paris Opera.
Meanwhile, Odetta works at the Opera and also works with a wicked wealthy woman, Regine (Acted as Julie Khaner) who has one daughter- Camille (Acted by Maddie Zeigler).
Camille also is a ballerina because her mum wants her to be not because of her passion for it. With her mum’s influence, Camilla gets a spot in the Paris Opera Ballet school. As the postman arrives at their house to deliver her letter of participation in the ballet, Felicie takes the letter from him.
Felicie assumes Camille’s place after the latter destroyed her music box. Odette, a former ballerina trains Felicie and over time, she improves her steps and scapes elimination
Regine soon discovers that Felicie has been assuming her daughter’s place and calls for her arrest. With the help of Meranta, Felicie’s punishment is waved and she is allowed to continue in the training while Camille joins as well. Meranta (Acted by Terrence Scammel) allowed her to stay because of the way she had danced with passion on a particular night.
On the final day of training, Felicie is unable to focus and dance well as she is downcast and also did not practice. This makes Camille emerge a winner and selected to dance the role of Clara in The Nutcracker.
The next day, both Felicie and Camille stumble on each other and unconsciously engage in a dance battle. Felicie’s moves were extraordinary, so many moves that Camilla couldn’t do.
Camilla seeing the passion in Felcie compared to her that dances because her mum says she should dance concedes to Merante that Félicie should dance the role of Clara.
Camille’s mother tries to hurt Felicie but she is saved by Victor. Felicie is seen performing in the Nutcracker.
