PLOT

Two close friends and business partners- Derrick Tyler (Acted by Michael Ealy) and Rafe Grimes (Acted by Mike Colter) celebrate their success so far with their women. Rafe also introduces his new woman to his friend Derrick and Tracie Tyler (Acted by Damaris Lewis).

Tracie returned home late some days ago, and the husband inquires about her whereabouts; she lies that it is work. She reminds Derrick that she doesn’t question him when he spends time with his client, so he shouldn’t question her. Tracie also reminds him that he is never there for her because he is too busy with his work. And when she finds a job to keep her company, he complains and wants her to quit. But she says she won’t quit.

Derrick and Tracie seem not to be having enough couple times. Tracie spends more time outdoor based on her new career, which Derrick is not too happy about.

While at the poolside with his wife Tracie, Derrick lets her know he wants to turn a new leaf and start spending more time with her. But Tracie tells him she is not planning on giving up her career; Derrick doesn’t want her to do that. She reminds him how many nights she stayed alone in the house while he was with his client building his career.

While at a bar, Derrick reveals to Rafe that he suspects his wife is cheating on him. He tells Rafe that they were once a passionate couple, but they are now a stranger. Rafe finds a way to remove Derrick’s ring and pushes him to have some extra-marital affair. Derrick hooks up with someone, oblivious that she is Detective Val Quinlan (Acted as HILARY SWANK), and they both have sex.

Derrick Tyler’s cousin Tyrin Abernathy (Acted by Tyrin Turner ) stops by Derrick’s office. Derrick tells Tyrin about the big energy drink deal he just closed. Derrick gives Tyrin money but asks him to call his mum, who is worried about his absence for two weeks. As Tyrin is about to step out of Derrick’s office, he stumbles on Derrick’s business partner and friend, Rafe Grimes; the two don’t seem to like each other. Rafe doesn’t like Tyrin because he keeps disturbing his cousin, Derrick, for money. Rafe makes jest of Tyrin for always coming for money in front of Tyler, but Derrick tells him to stay out of his family matter. Both Derrick and Rafe afterwards discuss a new business that Derrick doesn’t feel like going into.

Derrick wants to win his wife’s heart back to fix their marriage back. He returns home early and prepares a meal with the intent to go on a date with his wife. Tracie returns home to find Derrick cooking. Derrick is remorseful for the days he has not been available, especially when the wife needed him. He implores his wife that they should start a family and be one again. That night, they make out, and it seems like everything is about to be good again, till someone breaks into their apartment and makes an attempt to kill Derrick. But Derrick overpowers the intruder, although he escapes.

The police investigate the break-in at the Tylers residence. They ask Derrick and his wife questions about the attack. Tyler is shocked when he sees his one-night affair-lady, Detective Valerie Quinlan, as one of the detectives handling their case. Detective Val is put in charge of their case. And when she finally sees Derrick, she tries to put guilt in him in front of his wife by asking if they have met before. Derrick lies and says no.

Meanwhile, Tracie feels Detective Val may have seen Derrick on television during interviews since he is a basketball star. She lies and agrees that it is the television and then reverts to questioning the couple about the incident. Detective Val pulls Tyler’s wife aside to question her separately, making Derrick’s heartbeat so fast, thinking the Detective wants to tell Tracie, his wife, about their one-night sexual affair.

While in the living room, Detective Val asks Tracie personal questions about her husband Derrick’s side of the bed. Tracie is confused as she feels it doesn’t relate to the investigation. Still, Val manages to get her to reply by telling her it is part of the investigation. Detective Val, after investigation, doesn’t think it is robbery cause nothing was stolen, but Tracie feels it is robbery. Both Tracie and Detective Val return to Derrick, who is unsettled as he is uncertain if detective Val will expose their one-night stand to his wife, Tracie. But actually, Val doesn’t. Val tells Derrick and his wife, Tracie, that she will follow up on the case. She tells them not to hesitate to share more information if they have on the attack.

Detective Val shuns restraining orders and goes to her ex-husband’s house- Carter Haywood (Acted by Danny Pino), who now has custody of their eight-year-old daughter- Haley (Acted by Oakley Bull). Val pleads with her ex-husband, Carter, to allow her to be a part of Haley’s life and grant her visitation right, but Carer ignores her plea. He warns her to stay away from his family, or he would have her reported. He threatens Val that she will have more than the restraining order to worry about. Detective Val lost custody of her child due to drugs and negligence. Quinlan remembers being drunk and carelessly dropping her gun on the bed, and Hailey retrieves it and fires it.

Derrick shows up at Detective Val Quinlan’s office. He apologises to her for telling lies about his name and marital status when they met at Vagas. Val assures him that she has no intention to expose him to his wife cause if she exposes him, she indirectly exposes herself, which may damage her reputation. Derrick apologises to her again and reveals that it is his first time cheating on his wife. But Val still lets him know that he lied to her.

Val pretends to be over the affair issue and talks about the attack on Derrick. She tells Derrick that the other night’s attack seems like the person wants to kill him. But Derrick is appalled as to who would want him dead. The Detective tells him to think through; maybe he will find someone who is trying to kill him. Val warns him to be careful as she believes that the one who broke into their apartment may attempt it again.

Derrick returns to his office to research Val. He finds records of her ex marriage, criminal record avoidance and how she is highly celebrated; nothing helpful.

When Derrick gets home, he finds Val conversing with his wife, Tracie. His heart skips, still thinking Val plans to expose him, which she is not. Val tells Derrick she wants to view the house on a lighter day and see if she missed anything the first time. She then assures Derrick and the wife that they will catch the culprit.

Tracie leaves the house to hook up with her supposed client, which happens to be a hookup with her lover, Rafe since she is having an illicit affair with him. Tracie tells Derrick not to stay awake since she will be returning late.

Rafe, while with Derrick, tries to pin the night attack on him to Derrick’s cousin- Tyrin Abernathy (Acted by Tyrin Turner), but Derrick tells him to leave Tryin out of it that he can’t do it.

Val’s colleagues updated her on the incident that happened at Derrick’s apartment. Her colleague reveals to her via phone that the intruder had direct access to their apartment and did not make a forceful entry, making it obvious that there was an insider behind the attack.

Derrick further researches Val. Meanwhile, his friend Rafe invites him to the gym, but he is too preoccupied with what he is currently facing, so he turns down the offer.

Tracie and Rafe Grimes illicit affairs are exposed to Derrick Tyler with the help of Detective Val; this leaves Derrick heartbroken. Meanwhile, Detective Val goes over to her ex-husband’s house, Carter and again implores him to allow her to access her child, but Carter turns her plea down. He assures her that he will do everything in his power to make sure she doesn’t have access to the child again and will never be her mother again. Carter’s statement hurts Val so much.

Derrick and Val are together at her place. She reveals to Derrick that his best friend- Rafe Grimes, and wife- Tracie attempted to kill him and will still attempt it again. Val tries to get into his head and make him kill Tracie and Rafe. Quinlan, who is battling the frustration of not having access to her daughter, has quick sex with Derrick, who is angry about Tracie’s affair with his best friend, Rafe. Both make out in their depressed state. Then Derrick leaves afterwards. Val is left alone recalling the last words of her ex-husband about her never having the child. It leaves her in excruciating pain.

Derrick Tyler is in police custody for the murder of his wife- Tracie, and best friend- Rafe Grimes. Detective Quinlan tries to pin the murder on him, but Derrick says he is not behind the death. The Detective is, however, not convinced.

Derrick goes to his office and finds the place empty, except for a female worker he permits to go home. He loses clients and staff following his murder accusation.

During the funeral of Tracie, Derrick Tyler finds out that Detective Val killed his wife and best friend. When he tries to react to it, she threatens to kill him and tell people it is an act of self-defence. Meanwhile, Derrick’s mum (Acted by Denise Dowse) spurs him to clear his name from the evil reputation being given to him.

Derrick tells Tyran that Quinlan is behind the murders. Tyran vows to deal with her, but Derrick pleads with him to let go of her, but Tyran shuns Derrick’s words.

Tyran goes to meet another cousin, Bumpy, for help and a gun to deal with Val. Meanwhile, Derrick is woken up by a terrible nightmare.

Val sneaks in on her ex-husband and wife while sleeping at night to check on her daughter.

Tryan and another cousin invade Val’s house to know why she is framing Derrick up. She overpowers them and kills them before they can get any information from her.

Both Val and Derrick meet at the Beach house. Quinlan’s revelation about killing Tyran makes Derrick grab her gun and aim it at her. Whereas Quinlan already removed the bullet. She brings out her other gun and threatens to shoot Derrick if he misbehaves. Val, now with the gun, tells Derrick to frame his ex-convict cousin, Tyran, as the one behind the murder of his wife and best friend. Val also orders Derrick to kill her ex-husband, Carter, with the promise of discarding every framed up evidence against him. She tells Derrick about Carter’s daily routine and how he can capture him.

Derrick sees Carter running just like Val had said. Rather than kill Carter, he tries to plan an escape with him, but that doesn’t work as the instant Carter hears Val’s name, he fights with Derrick, and the gun mistakenly goes off, killing Carter.

Derrick goes over to Val’s place to let her know that he mistakenly killed Carter. There is a shoot out between Val and Derrick which leaves both of them injured. The police surround the place while Derricks brings out his phone to replay Val’s confession about her killings.

The taped confession officially vindicated Derrick.
