(+Lyrics + meaning + translation) Music review: 2010 Light Up by Sound Sultan ft M.I

Nigerian singer Sound Sultan was known fos r his dexterity in songwriting. Some of his songs greatly criticized bad governance in Nigeria. He died in 2021 at the age of 44. This song features M.I

M.I is a Nigerian singer signed to Chocolate City, a record label he owns.

What is the song 2010 Light Up by Sound Sultan ft M.I all about?

This song is a call to Nigerians to arise and revolt, renounce, reject, protest against bad governance in the country, and the ill-treatment being dished out by politicians/leaders to the citizens.

It is a call to react to turbulent situation in the country till government listens and put things in the right order, or fixes the problems in the country.

It is a call demanding for electricity in the country instead of the constant poor power supply which makes people resort to using candles, and those that have generators, a generator.

Some of the other problems the artists mentioned include- hunger, epileptic power supply, lack of water, fuel scarcity, bad products, inflation, hardship, trampling on human rights, failed promises (like in the case of promising to light up Nigeria in 2010, but still not keeping to the promise), assassinating critics, and so on, which the government is acting blind to and being so heartless about the situation.

Yes boss,M.I with the flow boss

No boss so long u scope us

Why you eat green like locust

So ur masses live low cost

Hunger,poverty choke us

You say there’s a new plan for us

There’s no light, how you gonna show us

All man just fighting, thinking, fuel rising ,money sinking

PHCN so blinking, PHCN to the fighting

I keep on singing, writing

People voting, we coping

Country broken, leaders heartless

Open my eyes,still darkness

Its about that time

That I spit that rhyme

That can touch that mind

Who can tell that friend

Who can take that stand

We can reach that end

Put your lighters Up,they can’t fight us down

Light up naija this 2010
