What is the song 4th man by Jonathan David Helser and Melissa Helser all about?

“4th Man” is a reference to the bible passage in Daniel 3. It tells the story of three Hebew men- Abednego, Shadrach, and Meshach.

The three refused to bow to the graven image of the Babylonian king, Nebuchadnezzar. This angered the king, who asked some soldiers to throw them into a fiery furnace. It was so hot that the flames of the fire killed the soldiers while nothing happened to the trio.

But Jesus sent his angel “The 4th Man,” to rescue them in the furnace. Nebuchadnezzar was dazed when he saw four men come out of the fire unharmed.

In the song, the artists charged people to have unshakable faith or hold on to their faith regardless of the terrible situation they may be facing. Because the powerful, faithful and loving God will never let his children down. He will always come through for them and save them from every difficult situation. He is above all situations.

Who is this man I see

Standing in the flames

Coming close to me

You move so fearlessly

Calling out my name

Have You come to save

Though the wind may blow

I’ll be still and know

Chorus (Jonathan Helser)

Fourth man in the fire

Conquering my fears

You are above it all

You draw near

Walking on the water

I will meet You here

Yes, I will meet You here

The power of Your love

The mercy in Your touch
