I remember Lifehouse’s popular song titled “Everything.” In the song, they said, “How can I stand here with you and not be moved by you.” The same applies to the song “New wine” by Hillsong. How can you listen to this song and not be moved? You tell me…

Lyrics to New Wine by Hillsong
Intro
Beatz
Verse 1
In the crushing, in the pressing, you are making, new wine
In the soil, I now surrender, you are breaking, new ground
So I yield to you and to your careful hand
When I trust you I don’t need to understand
Pre-Chorus
Make me your vessel, make me an offering
Make me whatever, you want me to be
I came here with nothing, but all you have given me
Jesus, bring new wine out of me

In the crushing, in the pressing, you are making, new wine
In the soil, I now surrender, you are breaking, new ground (Hey)
You are breaking new ground

The Review
I just love this song, so spirit filling. I love the fact that the entire congregation was on fire for God; they were all spirit filled. They were all connected to God.
Lyrically: The song comes in one verse though it was repeated. The pre-chorus “Make me a vessel” dominated the song. It was sung 5 times, while the chorus was sung 4 times. New wine by Hillsong is a well-composed song. Well-chosen lyrics that are soul-lifting.
It talks about God bringing out something good in one. It was sung in English.
Breakdown of the verses
In verse 1: “In the crushing, in the pressing, you are making, new wine” Hillsong says that the tribulation and challenges are just a temporary phase. They know and believe it won’t last forever because God is on their case. God is preparing them for great things.
God is renewing them and would give them a better life. More like a reborn.
The artists also surrender all to God because they know God will always look after his children. They have confidence in his plans for them.
In the pre-chorus: “Make me your vessel, make me an offering” the artists after surrendering their lives to God implore God to make them that which is suitable for him. They ask God to tell them what he wants them to be or do and they will obey.
The artists also say that they came empty but God has filled them to the brim. They further ask God to make them carry fresh anointing and bring out something good in their body.
“Make me an offering” in the song may mean that God should suggest or counsel them on what he wants them to be because they would like to do God’s will and not their own will. It may also mean that God should make them a generous giver or he should make them give only that which would cost them and not that which would not cost them.
In the chorus: “‘Cause when there is new wine, there is new power” the artists say that when there is a fresh anointing and when there is something good in them, they would be strengthened, renewed, and would be able to achieve a greater feat for God’s kingdom.
The artists also say that they are letting go of their old flames for a new fire today. In essence, they want new anointing, they want the spirit of God to fall afresh on them.
What is the song “New wine” by Hillsong about?
This is no doubt a gospel song by the popular band- Hillsong. The artists surrender all to God and ask Him to bring something good out of them. They want God to mold them into what He desires of them. They ask for more strength and anointing to do his work. They ask God to renew them; all they ask to achieve a greater feat for the kingdom of God.
Meaning of some words
Crushing: Pressed down, ruin, to be subdued, press.
Yield: To surrender
New wine: New life, afresh, refill; something good.
Sound
It is a slow- tempo song. The beat flowed well with the lyrics and they were very expressive as they sang. The various instruments used in the composition of the song include violin, piano, guitar, drum; all enhanced the melody of the song.
